Robert "Bob" Steck

December 4, 1937 — March 9, 2021

Topeka—Robert Dean Steck, 83, passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2021, at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka.

Robert was born December 4, 1937, in McFarland, the son of the late William Joseph and Margaret Marie (Zeller) Steck. Also, his beloved brother, William Eugene Steck, perished in 1963.

He served in the United States Navy on the USS Arcadia from 1956 to 1958.  Robert completed course studies at Electronic Institute/KCMO and at Topeka Vo-Tech after his naval service. Succeeding living a brief time in Kansas City, he and RoseMarie purchased a home in rural Paxico, where they raised their children.   Bob worked 22 years at Hallmark Cards in Topeka and has enjoyed reading and gardening since then.  His woodworking skills had little rival, which will bring beautiful memories to family members for years to come.  Traveling has always been a passion, and he and RoseMarie spent several years “wintering” in Arizona.  He was a very learned man, but never, without a joke or endless teasing,

Robert Dean Steck and RoseMarie Glotzbach were united in marriage on April 26, 1958.  RoseMarie, of the home, survives him as well as their seven children; Jim (Marge) Steck, Newbury, Lesa (Rex) Burrous, Branson, MO., Melissa (Mike) Reeb, Topeka, Janet (Steck) Sweet, Topeka, Bill (Jana) Steck, Salina, Daniel Steck, Republic, MO., and Amy (Steck) Raye, Topeka; 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, March 13, 2021, at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Newbury.  Cremation will follow the mass.  A rosary will be said Friday evening, March 12, 2021 at 6:30 P.M. at the church, and visitors will be received starting at 5:30 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Birthright of Topeka and sent to Piper Funeral Home, 714 Maple St., St. Marys, Kansas 66566.
