Wayne Reiners

Wayne L. Reiners, 76, passed away Monday, October 12, 2015 at the St. Marys Manor. He was born September 14, 1939 at Wamego, the son of Seibelt "Zeke" and Rosa M. Beasterfeld Reiners. Wayne grew up in the Greenwood community and attended Greenwood rural school. He graduated from St. Marys High School and Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia. While at KSTC he played football and was on the All-Conference Team. He was a member of Sigma Tau Epsilon Fraternity. Mr. Reiners taught and coached at Auburn High School. He later was a salesman living in New Jersey. In 1968 he moved back to St. Marys where he co-owned St. Marys Lumber, he also was a contractor. Wayne was a member of the St. Marys United Methodist Church, the Kansas State Catbackers and the Ahearn Scholarship Foundation at KSU. He was married to Barbara Dale Riggin on July 29, 1961. They divorced. He later married Judy Radius on June 18, 1988 at St. Marys. She survives of the home. Other survivors include two sons, Bryan (Stacey) Reiners, and Chris (Beth) Reiners all of Maple Hill; two daughters, Tisha (Dan) Schlochtermeier, Westmoreland and Tara (Chuck) Sander, Valley Center; a brother, Loran (Virginia) Reiners, St. Marys; his sister, LeAnn (Bill) Brown, St. Marys and nine grandchildren, Aryn, Zac, Hayden, Cooper, Riggs, Haley, Courtney, Brayden and Piper. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, October 15, 2015 at the St. Marys United Methodist Church. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Belvue. Mr. Reiners will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at Piper Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Marys Manor or Alzheimer Association and sent in care of Piper Funeral Home, 714 Maple St., St. Marys, Kansas 66536.
