St. Marys--Phyllis May Rezac died Monday, August 25, 2014 in St. Marys. Phyllis was born December 22, 1926 the daughter of Harry F. and Olive Van Horn Hershey in Belvue. On May 2, 1942 she was united in marriage to Delaine Rezac in Manhattan. She and her husband Delaine founded Rezac Livestock Commission Co. May 7, 1947. Phyllis was actively working in the family business until November 2013. She was an active member of the St. Marys United Methodist Church, a past officer of Kansas Agri-Women, and a 56 year member of the Kansas Livestock Association. She loved family, needlework and quilting. Phyllis was a well-known pie baker for Rezac Café, and enjoyed her domino group. Phyllis was preceeded in death by her husband Delaine Rezac, sister, Marilyn Shehi, daughter-in-law Patricia Rezac, and step granddaughter Christie Brennan. Survivors include her sons, Kenneth (Christina) Rezac, Howard Lynn Rezac, and Dennis (Nancy) Rezac, all of St. Marys; a brother H. J. Hershey, Holton; a sister Dorothy Boettcher, Bothell, WA; grandchildren Holly (Michael) Grieb, Newton, MA; Deanne (Casey) Liska, and Cindy (Art) Walker of Wichita; Dustin (Misty) Rezac, St. Marys; Darcie (David) Stricker, Sulphur, LA; seven step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, 22 step-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, August 30, 2014 at the St. Marys United Methodist Church. Interment will be in the Valley View Cemetery St. Marys. Mrs. Rezac will lie in state after 2:00 P.M. Friday, August 29, 2014 at Piper Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:30 P.M.
