Phyllis T. Maynard, born on July 26, 1929, in Washington, DC, died on Friday, April 25, 2025, in St. Marys, Kansas. Phyllis was a beloved figure to many and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know her.
Raised by her parents, Frank Garcia Cordovilla and Mary E. (Chichester) Cordovilla, Phyllis carried a legacy of love and compassion throughout her life.
Phyllis dedicated herself to making rosaries in her later years, an endeavor that became her mission and brought joy and meaning to her life. Over time, she produced thousands of rosaries, which she generously donated for Catholic missions overseas, demonstrating her unwavering passion for her faith and her commitment to helping others.
She is survived by her three sons, Robert Allen Maynard, Michael Patrick Maynard, and Edward Robert Maynard, who will carry her memory forward all the days of their lives. Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Mary Teresa Maynard, whose memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her.
A rosary will be prayed for Phyllis at 5:20 PM on Monday, May 5, 2025 at The Immaculata, 701 N. 2nd St. in St. Marys. A requiem mass will be offered the next day, Tuesday, May 6 at 11:15 AM, also at The Immaculata. Burial will take place a later date in Mount Comfort Cemetery in Virginia.
