Pauline M. Hiatt, age 98, of Niles, MI, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 6, 2025. She was born on February 25, 1927, in Salem, Oregon, to the late Paul and Effie (Prater) Wehner. Pauline moved to the Buchanan, MI area in 1943, where she built a life rooted in service, faith, and family.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Joseph Russel Fisk and James Hiatt; her son, Daryl Fisk; her stepdaughter, Leslie Jayne Selent; her sisters, Bernita Hainey and Virginia Selby; and her brother, Dr. Merle Wehner.
Pauline is survived by her grandchildren, Ivan (Hannah) Fisk and Guinevere Fisk, along with her two great grandchildren, Ignatius and Adelina Fisk. She also leaves behind some special individuals in her life, Ronald and Sukran Bass Jr. and Monica Swope and several nieces and nephews.
She dedicated over 37 years to Buchanan High School as a librarian, where she nurtured generations of students with her love of learning and quiet strength. Pauline was a longtime member of Niles West Side Seventh Day Adventist Church, where her faith was a guiding light throughout her life.
In keeping with Pauline’s wishes, cremation will take place, and she will be laid to rest in a private ceremony in Maple Hill Cemetery, Maple Hill, KS at a later date.
