Melanie J. Hannigan, 60, passed away Monday, December 11, 2023, at a Topeka Hospital.
She was born January 29, 1963, in Topeka the daughter of Neil and JoAnn Dudney Crow. Melanie was raised in the Dover Community and graduated from Mission Valley High School in 1981. She attended Butler County Community College on a softball scholarship and was a walk-on for the volleyball team.
Melanie was a Legal Secretary and had worked for Goodell, Stratton, Edmonds & Palmer for nearly 25 years. In her younger years, she was a Member of the Dover Federated Church and was a Sunday School Teacher at the United Methodist Church of Eskridge.
Melanie was preceded in death by her daughter, Mariah Lea on January 19, 2011.
She and Kent Hannigan were married on November 12, 1983 at Dover. He survives at their home.
Melanie is also survived by her son, Rob (Andrea) Hannigan, Delton, MI; her parents, Neil and JoAnn Crow, Maple Hill; her brother, Brian Crow, Willard; three sisters, Stacey (Everett) Moddie, Burlington, Sharna Crow, Dover, and Kerri (James) Yocum, St. Marys; five grandchildren, Bailey, Luke, Draven, Cheyenne and Annie; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 16, 2023, at the Mission Valley High School Gym, following a visitation from 9:30 to 10:45. Burial will be in the Dover Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be to the Johnson Cancer Research Center, 1711 Claflin Rd., Manhattan, Kansas 66506.
