Leroy E. Romine, a revered tire builder at Goodyear Tire in Topeka, KS for nearly 35 years, passed away on April 18, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and selflessness. Leroy was known not only for his dedication to his work but also for the compassion he showed towards others, especially during difficult times.

Born on March 19, 1934, in his beloved hometown of Harveyville, KS, Leroy's life was marked by a deep commitment to helping those around him. He attended Harveyville High School and later served his country with honor as a US Army Korean War Veteran stationed at Ft. Lewis, WA. Leroy's military service forged a sense of duty and camaraderie that continued throughout his life; he was a proud member of the American Legion.

Leroy married Luella Ecklund in January of 1961 in Harveyville, KS. She preceded him in death on January 19, 1992.

Apart from his professional and military accomplishments, Leroy will be remembered as a devoutly religious man who exemplified the values of kindness and empathy. He lived his life in service to others, often assisting local farmers during plant layoffs and volunteering at various organizations such as the Oddfellows and the Colmery-O-Neil VA Hospital in Topeka.

One of Leroy's greatest joys was spending time with his family. He cherished moments like his 90th birthday celebration and valued family above all else. Leroy's hobbies included playing cards - particularly enjoying games like pitch and cribbage - and he would often host lively card parties at his home.

Leroy leaves behind a large and loving family: sons Jeff (Corinna) Romine and Terry (Linda) Deal; daughters, Susan (David) Sisco and Diana Willey; brothers, Everett (Linda) Romine and Earl Romine; sisters, Juanita (Galen) Slusser and Doris Romine; grandchildren Lloyd, Tammy, Yvonne, Dustin, Jared, Nicole, Melissa, Rebecca as well as 10 great-grandchildren. In remembrance are also his deceased parents, Carrol and Fern Romine; brothers, John Romine Wayne Romine and Dean Romine and grandsons, Tony Willey and Jason Romine.

A man of integrity and compassion has departed from this world but not from our hearts. Leroy E. Romine's memory will continue to inspire all those who were fortunate enough to know him. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm., April 25, 2024, at the Harveyville Church of Christ, followed by burial at the Harveyville Cemetery. May he rest in peace knowing that his legacy of kindness lives on in the hearts of those he touched.

Memorial contributions in Leroy's memory may be made to the Harveyville Church of Christ.
