Kenneth Wyre

Eskridge-Kenneth R. "Kenny" Wyre, 76, lifelong resident of Eskridge, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2016 at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka. He was born August 10, 1939 at Eskridge the son of Burney H. and Marie McMasters Wyre. Kenny graduated from Eskridge High School in 1958. Mr. Wyre worked for Rylie Equipment from August 10, 1958 until his retirement on April 28, 2000. He was an avid softball player playing until his 50's. He was married to Carole L. "Red" Justus on April 7, 1962 at Miami, OK. She preceded him in death on January 21, 2011. He was also preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Bill, Rick, Nadine and Donna Lee. Survivors include his children, Tammy and Greg Marett, Mike and Sandy Swygert and Steve and Lori Wyre all of Topeka; two brothers, Max Wyre and Don Wyre both of Henderson, NV; two sisters, Doris Davis, Belton, MO. and Sandy McAlister, Maramec,OK; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and friends. Memorial services will be at 11:00 A.M. Friday April 22, 2016 at the United Church of Eskridge. Inurnment will be in the Eskridge Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kenneth R. Wyre Memorial Fund to be designated for local projects and sent in care of Piper Funeral Home, 714 Maple St, St. Marys, Kansas 66536.
