Kenneth Leicht

d. March 13, 2010

Eskridge-On January 15, 2019 in his 76th year, Kenneth W. "Whitey" Leicht passed on to be with his mother who passed at childbirth and his father who passed away March 13, 2010. Born in St. Louis, MO. where he lived and married the love of his life for 54 years. His work in the trucking industry relocated him to places like, Kansas City, Denver, and ending up in the Topeka/Eskridge area. He worked for Chip Carriers/Frito Lay for over 35 years, where he eventually retired from. He was known for his work in the trucking industry in regulatory and legislative affairs that he continued after retirement. A couple of his notable accomplishments were, Traffic Manager/Terminal Manager at Topeka and Denver Colorado for Chip Carriers/Frito Lay, recipient of Frito Lay Life Time Achievement Award, Past President of KMCA (Kansas Motor Carriers Association), Kansas State Vice President to the American Trucking Association and his many visits to Capitol Hill to speak to senators and congressman on behalf of the trucking industry. You may have not always agreed with him but he was respected and known for doing what he thought was right. He was very proud of the Trucking Industry and had a deep respect for the truck drivers he worked with. His other passion was stock car racing. He would proudly tell you about his time when he raced with Rusty Wallace and Kenny Schrader's fathers in St. Louis at Lake Hill Speedway with his partner Bill Joplin. Last but not least was his great love for his family and friends. Son of Norman and Loraine (Zopfi) Leicht; husband of Elvera (Misbauer) Leicht; dear father of Sandra (Art) Pagles, Lorraine (Shawn) Leicht Gillgannon and Nancy (Mathew) Gleason; grandfather of Kayla Pagles; Levi Gillgannon; Christopher and Sydney Gleason; half-brother to James (Judy) Leicht; step-brother to John (Maryann) Pizzardi; brother-in-law to Marcella (Gilbert) Settlage, and Teresa (Chuck) Ossman. He was an uncle, cousin, and friend to many. He was a member of the Harveyville Church of Christ. Ken's wish to all is to celebrate life and not mourn the passing. Life is not a journey to the grave with the intentions of arriving safely in a pretty well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and proclaiming... "WOW WHAT A RIDE!" For those wishing to leave lasting memorials, Ken requested you please consider, The Kansas Motor Carriers President Foundation and sent in care of Piper Funeral Home, 714 Maple Street, St. Marys, Kansas 66536.
