Gary Dodson

St. Marys- Gary Ray Dodson, 55, passed away Monday, June 29, 2015 in Topeka. He was born July 15, 1959 at Tulsa, OK, the son of Lawrence Dodson and Sue Turner Trusty. He graduated from Webster High School in Tulsa. Gary was a fabricator/welder in his early years. His daily life was surrounded by his beloved kids (pets) Jazzie and KOKO. He enjoyed cooking and gardening. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Marys. Gary was very proud of his nephew, John Charles Andrick, watching him grow from a young boy to the person he is today. He and Mary DeLeye met in 1983; they were united in marriage on June 20, 1992 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Marys. She survives of the home. Gary and Mary moved in with her mother as caregivers for her after she suffered a severe stroke in 2012. Agnes was a "Mother" to him. Other survivors include his father, Lawrence Dodson, Stillwell, OK; his mother, Sue Trusty, Tulsa, OK; children, Jeremy Dodson and Amanda Dodson both of Tulsa, whom he loved in his own special way; sister, Christine (Jack ) Vice, Tulsa; half-sisters, Marguerite (Ronnie) Rush, Tahlequah, OK; and Laura (Bryan) Hathaway, Scappoose, OR; brother-in-law John (Janel) DeLeye, Topeka; sister-in-law, Marsha (Mark) Becker, St. Marys; two nephews, John and Dalton; two nieces, Macy and Brooklyn and a longtime friend, Bill Smith, SC. He was preceded in death by his step-father, Donald Trusty, half-sister, Stephanie Lang and brother-in-law, Terry Andrick. Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. Monday, July 6, 2015 at Piper Funeral Home in St. Marys. Gary will lie in state and the family will receive friends after 9:00 A.M. Monday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, St. Marys. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gary R. Dodson Memorial Fund to be designated at a later date and sent in care of the funeral home.
