Francis Scott

b. June 4, 1930

Francis John Scott Sr. was born June 4, 1930 to Vincent Paul Scott and Rose Helen Quinn of Pittsburgh PA. He was the fifth of twelve children. He joined the Army, 1st Infantry Division, post WWII, and served as a medic in Germany from 1950-1953. One June 4th, his 25th birthday, he married the love of his life, Mary Ann Coniglio. Together they had seven children, Bernadette, Therese Ann, Mary Frances, Kathleen (deceased), Elizabeth, Thomas and Francis Jr. A devout Catholic, Frank was very distraught to see the visible signs of a serious crisis within the Catholic Church in the new liturgy. Immediately he began to crusade for Catholic Tradition. For this purpose, he established a church in Vienna, Virginia with his fellow members of the Saint Athanasius Guild in June of 1970. He was exceedingly grateful for Archbishop Marcel Lefevre and the priests of the Society of St. Pius X. He was also proud to have a son among the company of this Priestly Fraternity. He and Mary moved to St. Mary's, after retirement, in 1995. He was to finish his 24 years of life in St. Marys, Kansas among his fellow Traditional Catholic's. He is survived by his wife, six children, twelve grandchildren, and six great grandchildren, four sisters and four brothers. A Requiem Mass will be at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at the St. Marys Academy Auditorium. Interment will be in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery with military honors conducted by a funeral detail team from Ft. Riley. A rosary will be recited at 5:20 P.M. Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at Assumption Chapel. Mr. Scott will lie in state at the funeral home from 1:00 until 4:30 Tuesday, February 19, 2019. If you wish to, flowers can be sent to Piper Funeral Home, 714 Maple Street, St Marys, KS. 66536. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St Marys Academy & College, PO Box 159, St Marys, KS. 66536. Memo should state: Mr. Francis Scott Fund.
