Delbert was born on January 3, 1924, in Junction City, Kansas to William Edgar and Mary Dean (Ashley) Bryant. He graduated from Junction City High School in 1941 and joined the Navy in 1942.
He worked in the Long Beach Naval Hospital caring for World War II wounded veterans and was in the Pacific campaign in Saigon and Okinawa as a hospital corpsman. Delbert viewed the destruction of the atomic bomb at Nagasaki, Japan. After serving in the Navy, Delbert was drafted by the Marines as they had no medics. Upon his release, he returned to Junction City in 1946 and worked at Fort Riley as a Quality Assurance Inspector. He retired from civil service in January 1981 after almost 32 years.
Delbert married Glenda Ruth Morgan on June 5, 1964, at Sumpthin Mills Christian Church in Upland, KS.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters; Helen Bryant and Dorothy Peterson; and one son, Chris Carr Bryant.
Delbert is survived by his wife, Glenda; son, Steve Alan (Gina) Bryant; three daughters, Pamela Louise (Ron) Trevarton, Deborah Jo (Larry) Peterson, and Janine (Bryan) Gauntt; 12 grandchildren, and 11+ great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, April 8th at East Side Baptist Church in Topeka. Delbert will lie in state and the family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 9:00 AM. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Berryton.
