David Joseph Senior

David Joseph Senior, 73, of St. Mary’s, KS, died Tuesday April 15, 2025, at home surrounded by family. He was born October 21, 1951, in Camden, NJ, to Edward Francis Senior, Sr. and Gertrude Marie (Barsuglia) Senior.

He grew up in Pitman, NJ where he attended Summit Elementary School, Memorial Middle School, and graduated from Pitman High School. Since the age of five, David was in awe with everything above the ground from the weather to the stars.

After high school, David pursued this fascination when he joined the U. S. Navy in 1970 and served four years as an Air Traffic Controller attaining the rank of Air Controlman Petty Officer 2nd Class E-5. His service was spent in Naval Air Station Kingsville, TX and he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. Following his service, David worked many jobs including oil pipe installation, a denture technician, and construction.

Throughout his life, David enjoyed taking road trips, fishing, playing the harmonica, studying the skies, and many other hobbies. He followed and spoke passionately about politics. His three-legged dachshund Davey was his closest companion for his last 16 years, and preceded him in death by four months.

David married Miriam Kay Myers in 1973; they later welcomed a daughter Regina Kay, who survives. Other survivors include 13 siblings and many nieces and nephews.

David was preceded in death by his parents and Miriam.

A visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 PM on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at Piper Funeral Home, 714 Maple St. in St. Marys. A rosary will be recited at 5:20 PM at The Immaculata, 701 N. 2nd St., also in St. Marys. Requiem mass will be offered at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 24, 2025 at The Immaculata with burial following in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery. The family will hold a reception following the burial at St. Marys Golf Course Clubhouse and all are invited to attend.
