David J. Schleif, age 51, of Belvue, Kansas, lost his battle with cancer on April 12, 2024. David is the son of Mary Schleif Bennett, born on January 4, 1973 in Wamego, Kansas.

He attended St. Marys Junior Senior High School, graduating in 1991 and then continued his education at MATC.

David met Brenda Lee Wolfe on Sept 17, 1994, and they married on Sept 14, 2002 in Wamego. From that union they have 2 children, Rebecca Lynne and Dalton James Schleif. They survive of the home.

David worked for the City of Wamego for nearly 28 years and most recently for Hormel Foods in Alma as a Maintenance Technician.

Until recently, David loved riding his motorcycle and coaching shooting sports with his local 4H club. He always had a smile on his face especially when it came to his children’s accomplishments. David was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and there wasn’t much he didn’t know how to do.

David is preceded in death by his grandparents, Ernest and Edith Schleif and a niece Abigail Mary Schleif. 

David is survived by wife, Brenda Schleif, daughter, Rebecca Schleif, son, Dalton Schleif, by his mother, Mary Schleif Bennett, and two brothers, Shawn (Angela) Schleif, New Zealand and Dustin (Steph) Stewart of Belvue, a niece, Brooklyn Schleif and two nephews, Dakoda and Paxton Schleif, as well as aunts, uncles, and several cousins.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 18 at Piper Funeral Home in St. Marys with a graveside service to follow at Greenwood Cemetery in rural Belvue.
