David Greidanus

David C. Greidanus, 57, died Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at the Midland Care House of Topeka. He was born March 5, 1956 at Kenosha, WI. the son of Jacob R. and Pauline A. Pettey Greidanus. David graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas Grade School and attended Tremper High School for two years both in Kenosha, before he joined the United States Marine Corps. He served in the Marine Corp from 1974 until 1980 when he was honorably discharged with the rank of Lance Corporal. David had worked on several ranches, St. Marys Academy & College, Rezac Land & Livestock in Onaga, the Alamo Group, Caterpillar Work Tools and most recently worked for PMSI Pipefitters at Jeffrey Energy Center until he became disabled. He was a member of the Assumption Chapel and had been a member of the St. Marys Volunteer Fire Department. David was a minor league pitcher as a young man and coached the Emmett 9-10 year old baseball team for several years. He loved fishing, gardening, hunting, camping and being outdoors. Mr. Greidanus moved to the St. Marys community in 1986 where he met Debra Stock. They were married July 29, 1987 at Assumption Chapel. She survives of the home. Other survivors include his mother, Pauline Greidanus; two sons, Benjamin and Jacob J. Greidanus; a daughter, Veronica Paidosh; five brothers, Tom, Michael, Vincent, Paul (Karen) and Sam Greidanus; two sisters, Carol (Rich) Weldin and Karen (Tim) Simo; a grandson Joshua Paidosh. He was preceded in death by his father, Jacob R. Greidanus. A Requiem Mass was held on Monday, November 11, 2013 at Assumption Chapel in St. Marys. Interment was in Our Lady Of Peace Cemetery, St. Marys. Memorial contributions may be made to the David C. Greidanus Memorial Fund and sent in care of Piper Funeral Home, 714 Maple St., St. Marys, Kansas 66536.
