With heavy hearts and profound hope and faith in the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ, the family of Alice Lillian Peters announces her passing on Wednesday, July 7, 2026, at the age of 83.
Born on August 31, 1942, in Queens, New York, Alice devoted her life to her Catholic faith and her family. As a loving and faithful mother of 59 years, she was a true matriarch who raised her daughter with grace, prayer, and unconditional love.
She was a veteran of the United States Navy, a devout Catholic, a Third Order Franciscan, and lived her life according to those principles. She was also a devoted member of the Legion of Mary. She fought and marched in pro-life demonstrations and stood firmly for the causes she believed in.
Alice was preceded in death by her sisters, Lorette and Iris. She is survived by her daughter, Lisamarie Scatigno; her grandsons, Nicolas and his wife Ashley Weber and Brandon Weber; her great-granddaughter, Lila Rae Weber; her sisters, Bernadette and Clare; and her brothers, Lawrence and Joseph.
A true peacemaker with a wonderful sense of humor, Alice leaves behind a legacy of unwavering faith and love. She will be dearly missed by all those who had the great pleasure of knowing her.
A Traditional Requiem Mass will be celebrated for Alice at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 30th at The Immaculata, located at 701 North 2nd Street, St. Marys, Kansas and burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in St. Marys.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that Memorial Masses be offered for the repose of Alice's soul. Contributions can be sent to Piper Funeral Home at 714 Maple St., St. Marys, KS 66536
“Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.”
