Auburn—Monika Fryar, 76, passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2020, at her rural Auburn home.

She was born on July 28, 1943, in Ehrhorn, Germany, the daughter of Egon and Johanna Schaefer Lauf.

Monika was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Maple Hill.

Survivors include her three children, Colette (Mauricio) Abascal, Auburn; Fr. Kenneth Fryar, Mexico City, Mexico, and Fr. James Fryar, Los Angeles, CA;  a sister, Elizabeth DeGroot, Brisbane, Australia; seven grandchildren.

Requiem Mass will be at 9:30 A.M. Monday, February 24, 2020, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in  Maple Hill.  Interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery.  Mrs. Fryar will lie in state, and the family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. Sunday, February 23, 2020, at Piper Funeral Home, where there will be a Rosary recited at 5:00 P.M.
