Lyle Raine

July 19, 1930 — June 7, 2020

Maple Hill—Lyle D. Raine, 89, passed away, Sunday, June 7, 2020, at his home in Maple Hill.

He was born July 19, 1930, in Rural Maple Hill the son of Frances and Murrell Cox Raine.  Lyle grew up in Maple Hill, moving to Topeka and graduating from Highland Park High School in 1948.

After graduation, Lyle farmed for several years before entering the United States Marine Corp. Upon his honorable discharge, he came back to Maple Hill, where he farmed and was a truck driver.  His happiest place was on a tractor, farming.  Lyle was a member of the American Legion Post 130 for over 60 years and was a Past Commander.   He was a member of the Maple Hill Community Congregational Church, where he sang in the choir.  Lyle loved his family; whenever one of the grandchildren had any type of activity, he was sure to be there.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Frances and Wm. Joe Raine.

Lyle Dean Raine and Melba Jo Adams were united in marriage in 1958 in Maple Hill.  She survives of the home.

Other survivors include his son, Kevin, Topeka; three daughters. Tammy (Rich) Arnold, Salina, Tari (Mark) Metzler, Topeka, and Staci (Ron) Guinn, Weston, MO; a brother, Steven Raine in Florida; two sisters, Naomi Brooks, Topeka, and Jackie Powell, Hays; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 10:00 A.M. Monday, June 15, 2020, at the Community Congregational Church in Maple Hill, followed by inurnment at the Maple Hill Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 P.M. Sunday, June 14, 2020, at Piper Funeral Home in St. Marys.
