Ronald "Rocky" Clem Zeller, 93, of Topeka, passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2026 surrounded by his family.
Rocky was born on September 21, 1932 at the family home in rural Wabaunsee county near Paxico, the son of Francis Michael and Mary Maude (Deiter) Zeller. Rocky attended Paxico Elementary and graduated from Paxico High School in 1950.
Rocky married Ruby Arlene Welter on September 4, 1951 at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Wamego, KS. He and Ruby lived in the Maple Hill, KS for over 45 years before recently moving to Presbyterian Manor in Topeka.
Rocky worked in retail grocery before retiring as a machinist from Dupont after 27 years and Flexel after 9 years in Tecumseh, KS. Rocky was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church in Wamego, volunteered as a Kiwanis Club Member in Maple Hill, KS and the Historical Society in Westmoreland, KS from 1986-1995.
Rocky is survived by his wife, Ruby A. Zeller of Topeka; his sister, Carmen Hiegert of Paxico, KS; daughter, Victoria A. Zeller of Overbrook, KS; Cynthia S. Cervantez of Topeka, KS; Stacia L. Zeller of Fort Worth, TX; sons, James R. Zeller of Tyler, TX and Bruce E. Zeller of Salado, TX; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Mary Zeller; brother, Herbert Zeller; and sisters, Cecilia Zeller and Marlene Zeller.
A visitation will be held at 9:00 AM on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 17665 Old Post Rd., Wamego, KS 66547; a rosary and Mass of Christian Burial will follow at the church on the same day, at 10:00 AM and 10:30 AM respectively. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Bernard Catholic Church or to American Diabetes Association and may be sent in care of Piper Funeral, 714 Maple St., St. Marys, KS.
