Pamela Rae (Wyker) Pace, 77, of St. Marys, died on Thursday, March 26, 2026 at her home.
Pam was born to Chester and Mary Jane (Jenkins) Wyker on August 27, 1948 in Belvue, KS. Pamela lived most of her life in the St. Marys area and was raised by her step-mother LeOra Hayes Wyker. She graduated from St. Marys High School and attended Kansas State University, Highland Community College and Ft. Hays College.
She was married to Jim Pace on July 6, 1969; he preceded her in death.
Starting in 1984, Pamela worked at the Kansas State University Diagnostic Medicine Pathology Department as a microbiologist. In 2004, she was awarded Employee of the Year for the Veterinary Diagnostic Lab. On September 19, 2011, she retired after 27 years, 1 month and 1 day.
In 2002 she was listed for appearance in the Who's Who in Executives and Business, for her role as president of J&P Enterprises, Inc., a new home construction company which her and Jim founded. They built over 67 homes in Manhattan, Wamego and St. Marys. She was a member of the St. Marys United Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star Loyal Chapter #176, and she was also a published poet.
Survivors include her two sons, David Pace (Tina), Topeka KS and Eric Pace , St. Marys, KS. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy and as well as her son, Craig Pace.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 PM on Monday, March 30 at Piper Funeral Home in St. Marys. Graveside services and interment will be at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, March 31 at Valley View Cemetery in St. Marys, KS.
She completed her life course in the same measure of grace and dignity with which she lived each day.
