Joan Marie (Seitz) Sebring, 91, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 20, 2026, at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas.
Joan was born on December 4, 1934, in St. Marys, Kansas, the daughter of Bernard J. and Lena M. (Pageler) Seitz. She attended Immaculate Conception Catholic Grade School and graduated from St. Marys High School.
Throughout her career, Joan worked for the U.S. Government, Topeka Party Sales, and Jostens Yearbook Company. She retired from Jostens as a payroll clerk. Following her retirement, she continued her dedication to service by working for the Kansas Legislature for two years.
Joan was a devoted member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Marys and the American Legion Auxiliary Post No. 31 in Rossville, Kansas.
On February 27, 1954, Joan married Robert Wayne Sebring at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Marys. He preceded her in death on March 22, 2008, after 54 years of marriage.
She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Glenis M. Sebring (March 15, 2016); her brother Bill Seitz; sister Mary K. Denton; brother Albert Seitz; nephews Joe Seitz and Ron Denton; sisters-in-law Linda Seitz and Alice Seitz; and brother-in-law Gary Denton.
Survivors include her two sons, Robert (Janet) Sebring, Jr. of Wentzville, Missouri, and Ron (Suzie) Sebring of Topeka, Kansas; her daughter, Bev (Rick) Bradley of Hoyt, Kansas; ten grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 - 6:00 PM on Monday, April 27 at Piper Funeral Home, 714 Maple St. in St. Marys; a rosary will be recited for Joan at 6:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Marys, KS. Following the Mass, Joan will be laid to rest in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Saint Marys, Kansas. The family invites everyone to join them for a reception after the burial at the Centennial Building behind Immaculate Conception Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Joan’s memory may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church or the Rossville American Legion Auxiliary Post No. 31 and may be left in care of Piper Funeral Home, 714 Maple Street, St. Marys, KS 66536.
