Elizabeth Catherine Treacy, nee Schanne, 98, of St. Marys, died on Monday, March 2, 2026 at the St. Marys Manor surrounded by her family.

Elizabeth was born to the late Joseph Maximillian & Crescentia Schanne in Germantown , Penna. She was the fourth child and is predeceased by brothers Jack Schanne, Joseph Schanne & sister Irene Gluch. She is survived by her sister Milly. Betty graduated from St. Cecilia’s Academy and worked as a secretary for the Internal Revenue Service. In 1954 she married Eugene Martin Treacy who passed away in 1984. She was a loving mother to her seven children, Michael, Dennis, Beth, Eugene (Chip), Maryann, Kathy, and Tom.

Betty was a devout Catholic active at Immaculate Conception parish in Jenkintown. Later she attended the Traditional Latin Mass at St. Jude’s Church, Eddystone, Pa. Politically interested and active in the Pro-Life movement & Phyllis Schlafly’s “STOP ERA” campaign; her children remember her pounding the keys of an Underwood typewriter working for these organizations.

Betty had a cheerful disposition which never faltered even after a stroke and many years of disability. She had a great sense of humor and will be remembered shaking with laughter at some amusement. Some of her grandchildren will recall playing “Polish Poker” with her, and chuckling while she sang her rendition of “Manyana”.

Betty is survived by her seven children & their spouses, forty four grandchildren & fifty eight great- grandchildren…with more on the way.
