Chauncey Jack Whitwam, 86, of Maple Hill, passed away on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at Midland Hospice in Topeka. He was born July 19, 1940, in Topeka, KS, the son of DeLaskie Dean and Audrey (Fleisher) Whitwam.
Jack dedicated many years as a tire builder at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company until he retired.
Jack married Jeanene Beal on August 27, 1960, in Topeka. They built a life full of memories while they raised their 3 children. Together they enjoyed traveling with family and friends.
He truly was a "jack of all trades" until health issues prevented him from doing many of the things he enjoyed. He loved tinkering in his garage, a round of golf, game nights with friends, and working in his yard.
He was a proud supporter of Wabaunsee sports at all levels, attending many athletic events throughout the years. He and Jeanene also made many trips to Arkansas over the years to watch their grandchildren play football and basketball.
Known for his quick wit and sense of humor, Jack continued to make others smile even through his own pain. He was a good man and would help anyone.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Beverly Nelson, Fred Whitwam, LaLonnie Large and Marilyn Hinchman.
Jack is survived by his wife, Jeanene, of the home. Other survivors include his children, Kelley (Layne) Schulte, Todd (Sonya) Whitwam, and Brian Whitwam. 5 grandchildren, Brett Whitwam, Scott Whitwam, Anna (Brandon) Robinson, Cameron (Mollie) Schulte, and Dalton (Bailee) Whitwam; 11 great grandchildren, Aiden, Emily and Walker Whitwam, Kylah, Case and Coleman Jack Robinson, Presleigh and Bentley Whitwam, Brantley and Brynnlee Schulte, and Vea Whitwam; and 1 sister, Roxana Anderson.
A visitation will be held on Monday, July 27th from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Piper Funeral Home in St. Marys, Kansas. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 28th at 11:00 AM at Maple Hill Cemetery followed by a luncheon at the Maple Hill Senior Center.
