Life Legacy
Silver Lake-Jim Wilson, a non-smoker, died of lung & brain cancer at the age of 59 on February 13, 2010 at his home with his family by his side. He was born August 14, 1950 at Church, (Wetzel County) West Virginia the son of Charles L. and Viola F. Shinault Wilson.
He grew up in the Silver Lake community and graduated from Silver Lake High School in 1968, he attended Washburn University, Central Missouri State, Dallas Baptist College, Johnson County Community College, Kaw Area Vo-Tech, and was an Army Reserve Veteran 1968-1974. He was last employed at Kan-Equip in Topeka. Jim loved playing golf, loved people and enjoyed raising Angus cattle in the local area.
Jim was preceded in death by his mother Viola F. “Vi” Wilson on November 27, 2006.
Surviving are his three children, Carrie Pettiecord , Kearney, MO, James (Aaron) Wilson, Lake Hamilton, FL, Jackie Castlen, Jacksonville, FL; his father, Charles Wilson, Silver Lake; two brothers, Butch Anderson, D’Iberville, MS, and Dwain Wilson Emmett: a sister Terri Bahret, Silver Lake; and 6grandchildren and 3 step grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 6:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Silver Lake. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Silver Lake Cemetery. In lieu of flowers he and the family request donations in his memory be made to the First Baptist Church in Silver Lake or for an autism fund that will be set up to help those families who are struggling to pay for the therapies their children need. His beloved grandson is struggling with autism and he realizes there are many out there in the same situation fighting for their children but don't have the financial resources to do so.
