Regina Elizabeth Brezina, 88, passed away Saturday, January 2, 2010 at the St. Marys Manor.
She was born April 23, 1921 at Oconto, NE, the daughter of the late James and Catherine McKenzie Curren. She grew up in Nebraska and graduated from Eddyville High School.
Mrs. Brezina was a proof operator for Bank of America in Los Angeles for over 20 years. She moved to the St. Marys community in 2000 to be near her daughter and her family. She was a member of Assumption Chapel in St. Marys.
On June 7, 1939 Regina was united in marriage to Oscar Brezina at Oconto, he preceded her in death in 1987. Mrs. Brezina was also preceded in death by a son, Ronald Brezina, a daughter, Carol McGinnis and a grandson, Ronald Brezina Jr.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Stevens, Maple Hill; a son, Robert James Brezina, in California; a sister, Frances Roemer, Broken Bow, NE; 6 grandchildren, Paul Brezina, Sara Cain, Margaret Stevens, Katie Rogers, Michael Brezina and Beth Brezina; 10 great-grandchildren.
Requiem mass will be at 7:15 A.M. Monday, January 4, 2010 at Assumption Chapel in St. Marys where there will be a Rosary recited at 7:00 P.M. Sunday, January 3, 2010. A Rosary and Interment will be at 11:00 A.M. in San Fernando Mission Cemetery, Mission Hills, CA. on Thursday, January 7, 2010. Memorial contributions may be made to Assumption Chapel Building Fund and sent in care of Piper Funeral Home, 714 Maple St. St. Marys, Kansas.
